Peter Feldman: Seeing her artworks painted on the 10 mini-bus taxis as they traverse the country is a “priceless experience” for Johannesburg artist Bev Butkow.
Butkow, a mother of four, was one of five finalists in the recent SA Taxi Foundation Art Award. “My prize as a Top 5 finalist has two elements,” she said. “There is R10 000 in prize money and then the excitement of seeing my artwork driven through the streets emblazoned onto minibus taxis. This is in line with the objective of the competition to broaden exposure to art in an accessible and fun way – the first time art has been taken to the public as a moving exhibition.”…
