Joint winner of the International Future Generation Art Prize, the future star of the art world has his first solo exhibition at the Ikon Gallery
If the Angolan artist Nástio Mosquito does become the big name that many predict then Birmingham will have proved a crucial early step.

“It feels like a great beginning,” he said. “It is the start of something. This is the first chapter of my empowerment of a generation, a five chapter novel … I’ll have to find a snappier name.”
Mosquito was speaking before the opening of a new show at the Ikon Gallery, his first solo exhibition.
There is a genuine buzz around Mosquito, reinforced in Kiev, Ukraine, in December when he was named the joint winner of the International Future Generation Art Prize for artists under 35…
