Communications Minister Faith Muthambi was forced to defend a state-funded trip to two lifestyle fairs in the United States on Thursday after the Democratic Alliance accused her of wasting R600 000 on events that were irrelevant to her portfolio.

Muthambi countered through her spokesperson that the actual cost had come to only half that amount and that she had helped to promote local crafts.
