R100,000 raised at Auction of Rhino painting
Cape Town artist Irene Oxley’s painting of a Rhinoceros was auctioned at an International Dental Conference for Temporomandibular Joint Disorder, held at the Spier Wine Estate this weekend.
Nearly R100,000.00 was raised for the Save the Rhino Foundation at an evening banquetand auction, from the sale of the oil painting and contributions.
LivierCarreon-Tuitt, an Orthodontic Specialist fromTexas in the USA, was the winning bidder, who fell in love with the artwork at first sight and just had to have it. The painting travelled in style back to the States, in First Class.
Irene has also received a commission from another Doctor attending the conference, for a painting to be shipped to Bangkok. A selection of Irene’s artworks are hanging in private collections and corporate offices in Russia, Australia, Germany, America, South Africa, Italy, and the UK.
