Art@Africa, whose flagship gallery is situated at the Clocktower Center at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, is opening a gallery in the artistic centre of the beautiful coastal town of Hermanus. This gallery will be known as Art@Africa Hermanus.
In representing local South African artists, they provide a platform on which extra-ordinary talent can be recognized on an international level and this will now be extended to the new gallery.
The Art@ company is owned by Dirk Durnez, Belgium’s Advisor Economic Diplomacy and founder of the Cape Chamber of Commerce alongside Henk Van Aswegen, attorney, developer and businessman.
The Art@Africa Hermanus gallery will be manned by art consultant Kosie Thiart and is situated at Nr 2, Harbour Road, Hermanus
This gallery will be launched on 5 November 2020 at 18h00 and will be included in the Artwalk on 6 November 2020 which happens every first Friday of the month in Hermanus, between 17h00 and 20h00.
The First Friday Art Walk is part of a worldwide initiative to make art and art galleries more accessible and better known to the public.
Art@Africa invests time and enthusiasm in young artists, offering them a platform to work from, introduces up and coming artists into the market and works with both established and new artists to exhibit cross pollination of both established and new artists of South African talent.
The artists which will initially be represented at the Hermanus gallery are Andries Visser, Barney Bernardo, Caelyn Robertson, David Griessel, Eben, Gregg Price, Kobus Walker, Kosie Thiart, Lauren Redman, Marco Olivier, Marke Meyer, Maureen Quin, Tafadzwa Masudi, Mpho Mazibuko, Valeria Talian en Talita Steyn.
