Art for Books: Clarke’s Bookshop Fundraising Auction (in collaboration with Aspire Art Auctions) will run online from 25 May – 1 June.

Clarke’s Bookshop in Cape Town has been an invaluable resource to South Africans for sixty-five years and is now, due to the impact of the lockdown, facing a financial crisis.
As a fundraising initiative Clarke’s have put together an online art auction which Aspire has kindly agreed to host for us.
The auction will present a collection of book-related and book-inspired artworks. Clarke’s received an overwhelming response from many artists, and the auction will include works by Jane Alexander, Brett Murray, William Kentridge, Penny Siopis, Sanell Aggenbach, Gerhard Marx, Conrad Botes, Georgina Gratrix, Cameron Platter, Nabeeha Mohamed, Mia Chaplin, Hylton Nel and Pierre Fouché, amongst others.
All proceeds will be shared between the participating artists and Clarke’s Bookshop.
