An art extravaganza for a Cause

The children at SOS Children’s Villages in South Africa have created art pieces which are now on auction as part of the Art Extravaganza for a Cause event. Art Extravaganza for a Cause gives local artists the platform to give back to their communities, and to support South Africa’s vulnerable children, also helping the children to find their inner creativity and use art as an outlet and therapeutic aid. The workshops also expose the children to art as a possible and viable career choice.

The workshops took place at four SOS Children’s Villages in Mamelodi, Pietermaritzburg, Cape Town and Ennerdale. The children from these programmes each created a piece of art, named it and gave it over for auction. The art auction aims to raise funds which will help SOS Children’s Villages to continue to provide warm, loving homes to the children and youth at the villages, and in the Family Strengthening Programme.
These are the artists who generously gave their time and shared their talent: Stephen Langa; Themba Shabalala; Thina Dube; Tivani Mabulele; Sibusiso Makhunga; Sakhile Mhlongo; Abigail Siwan Cansdale Van Der Leek; Kim Pereira; Timothy Zantsi; Chuma Nozewu; Kimathi Mafafo and Janet Ranson. Their information, profiles and social media links can be found here.

SOS Children’s Villages calls for the public to support this initiative, by purchasing an art piece here.
The auction is live now until the 30th of March 2022. By supporting the auction, the public will be making a difference to the lives of South Africa’s most vulnerable children, at a time of greatest need.
The campaign is made possible by Royal Talens Foundation, Silveray Stationery Company, OnlineAuctions.africa and Intuition Design.
