Art Valuations | Bonhams (13 – 16 March 2017)

Bonhams Modern British Art Specialist in Johannesburg and Cape Town in search of Masterpieces:

Bonhams senior specialist, Chris Dawson, will be visiting Johannesburg and Cape Town – and the surrounding areas – in March offering valuations on Modern British and Irish Art. He will be in Johannesburg on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th March and Cape Town on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th.

Chris said, “The market for Modern British and Irish art is particularly strong at the moment, with artists such as Henry Moore, Lynn Chadwick, Elisabeth Frink and John Piper among others in high demand. On previous visits to South Africa I’ve found several works which have then gone on to sell well in our London Bond Street and I’m hoping to do so again.”

Works sourced in South Africa which have then sold successfully at Bonhams London include:

• Jubilee II a Maquette by Welsh sculptor Lynn Chadwick which sold for ZAR2,600,000 (£162,000)
in 2010
• Horse in the Rain V by English sculptor Dame Elisabeth Frink which made ZAR2,750,000
(£170,500) in 2015
• The Cottage by the Lake by Irish painter Paul Henry which sold for ZAR1,275,000 (£79,300) in

Appointments with Chris can be made by contacting Penny Culverwell on penny.culverwell@bonhams.com or by calling 071 342 2670.
