MPHO Makhubo showcasing his winning art works to art lovers who visited Coen Scholtz Recreation Centre during the 2016 awards.

THIS year marks the 30th Thami Mnyele Fine Awards award which offers R160 000 in prize money.

In association with the Lizamore and Associates Mentorship Programme, this competition comes with an exhibition of cutting edge contemporary South African fine art.

Entries are open from August 22-24 between 9am and 7pm at Coen Scholtz Recreation Centre, Mooifontein Road, Birchleigh North. Sculptures and installations must be entered at this venue.

Entry forms are available at the centre and the entrance fee is R50 per artwork entered.

All artworks must be ready and suitable for exhibition and completed in the 12 months prior to the competition.

Adjudication will take place on August 29 and 31. The adjudicators for 2017 are Avitha Sooful, Mpho Makhubo, Andrew Tshabangu, Dr Same Mdluli and Sara Hallat.

One hundred of the works of art will be selected by the adjudicators for an exhibition from September 24 to October 15 daily from 10am to 5pm, free of charge, at Coen Scholtz Recreation Centre. read more
