Be inspired by their intriguing arrangements & together with new friends, create your own composition. You will study the objects, shapes and sizes while creating your own still life in oil pastel.

Op art is an art movement that began in the 1960’s. Artists were very interested in creating movement in their works to trick the eye. Explore the IN-MOTION: Art of the Space Age exhibition and view designs that are experimental, engaging and entertaining.
Be ready for an abundance of pattern, colour and form while being inspired by the fathers of Op Art. Create your own illusions that will trick the eye, like the works by Victor Vasarely, Yaacov Agam, Yvaral and Ludwig Wilding.

Exhibition view of The Johannesburg Station Panels by JH Pierneef. The Johannesburg Station Panels public commission (1929-32) consisting of 32panels is on long term loan from the TRANSNET Foundation to the Rupert Art Foundation.
JH Pierneef is known for his Johannesburg Station Panels commission consisting of 32 paintings that depict unique scenes from the South African landscape. Through studying these monumental paintings, you will learn about the various elements that make up a landscape. By using this knowledge, create your own landscape using oil pastel.
