South African artist Emily Stainer’s portrait Annabel has been selected for the BP Portrait Award 2017 exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, London. Annabel is one of 53 portraits that have been selected for the exhibition from 2,580 entries from 87 countries.
Now in its thirty-eighth year the BP Portrait Award is one of the most important international platforms for portrait painters. The paintings will be on display at the National Portrait Gallery from 22 June until 24 September 2017. The exhibition will then go on tour to Exeter City Art Gallery (4 October to 4 December 2017), the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Edinburgh (11 December 2017 to 19 March 2018 and the Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens (26 March to June 2018).
