Hundreds of visual artists working with almost every conceivable medium are showcasing their work at the 43rd National Arts Festival in Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape.

While many of these exhibitions allow artists to gain exposure and sell their work, one exhibition embodies more than just art.

The creative works of patients from Fort England Psychiatric hospital in Grahamstown are on display.

The aim of this exhibition is to put mental health in the spotlight.

The work on display is varied from sketches of birds, people, trees to beloved cartoon characters. read more
