Getting to the art of global emergency

It started with a call that was simple and brief: highlight a contemporary emergency. Artworks created for Johannesburg’s Museum of African Design (Moad) #UltraContemporary #Emergency Art#Africa had to be created within 24 hours. After that, they were exhibited, discussed, taken away for storage and then returned for an exhibition that opened on June 24 and runs to July 31. Fourteen artists — most from Africa, but some from Denmark — responded, and have been at work since June 10.
