Aspire Art kicked off the year positively with our first Live Auction of 2025, which took place on 12 March in Cape Town. Despite the prevailing market and economic challenges, the auction performed exceptionally well, surpassing expectations for the first quarter.

This achievement can be attributed to our careful and strategic approach to responding to the current art market conditions. By assembling a selection of artworks that reflect both quality and significance, alongside a keen focus on future growth potential, Aspire ensured that each lot was positioned to offer long-term value.
Our commitment to responsible art trading was further demonstrated by our meticulous value estimation process and the limited number of works presented to the market. This thoughtful strategy allowed us to maintain both artistic integrity and financial stability, marking a promising start to the year.
The auction featured a collection of 59 artworks by leading South African, African and international artists from the modern and contemporary periods. Drawing interest from bidders in South Africa, Nigeria, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, USA and Singapore, the sale saw 20% of the sold pieces surpassing the high estimate, while 50% sold within the estimated price range. Notably, 33% of the winning buyers were new to Aspire.
