The 29th KKNK, sponsored by Absa, came to an end on Sunday 6 April and exceeded expectations.

 

“We are grateful that attendance was excellent – in the Feesmark (festival terrain) and theatres, as well as at free areas and activities offered in Baron van Reede Street. When looking at the statistics from recent years, this year stands out and compares exceptionally well to the best of our pre-pandemic festivals over the last decade,” says Hugo Theart, CEO and Artistic Director of the KKNK.

 

Audience feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many highlighting the high artistic standard of this year’s productions. “The programme was a true reflection of our promise: ‘all the ’things, for everyone.’ It seems that the strategy we have implemented over the past few years is yielding fruitful results,” Theart adds.

 

“We are grateful and proud of what was achieved this year and believe that the foundation has been laid for a sustainable KKNK for years to come. Planning and preparation for the 30th celebration of the Afrikaans Mother Festival is already underway, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to Oudtshoorn from Saturday 28 March to Saturday 4 April,” he concludes.
