Andrew Lamprecht will present two thought-laboratories on the theme of trees as represented in art, philosophy, legends and lore. These illustrated discussions, "Trees of the Sun and the Moon",
will aim to inspire curiosity, invoke creativity and allow space for communion with some of our most venerable fellow-creatures with whom we share this earth: the trees around us.

In Jill Trappler’s studio session, artists will select a group of trees or a single tree at Wildekrans Country House to work with.
On Friday afternoon doing sketches in situ of selected trees.
On Saturday and Sunday afternoons transforming one of the sketches into a painting, drawing or mixed media image. All with the gentle guidance of Jill Trappler and within the tranquil environment of Wildekrans Country House.

The line up from the kitchens of Wildekrans Country House is a cornerstone to the joy of the art weekends. Everything is made with love. Afternoon tea, dinner, breakfast, morning tea and lunch, all on repeat.

Andrew Lamprecht is the Curator of Historical Paintings and Sculpture at the Iziko South African National Gallery. Prior to this he was a senior lecturer in History and Discourse of Art as well as Curatorship at UCT’s Michaelis School of Fine Art.

Jill Trappler is a Cape Town based artist and painter who exhibits regularly, most recently at the Sisonke Gallery, Cape Heritage Hotel, with ‘In the stillness of time, wood meets water’. Jill Trappler lectures at UCT summer school and teaches open, drop-in sessions and weekend workshops.

Prices are:

R10 500 single occupancy at Wildekrans Country House for a two night stay.
