The SA Art Times is sad to receive news that Robert Loder has passed away. Alessio Antoniolli (the current director of Gasworks & Triangle Network) has released the following statement:
Dear Triangle partners, friends and colleagues,
It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Robert Loder.
As you know, with Sir Anthony Caro, Robert founded the Triangle Network in 1982 and in 1994 went on to found Gasworks. For many decades Robert worked tirelessly to support the development of global network of artists and grass-roots arts organisations dedicated to promoting dialogue and exchange of ideas through the process of making art.
Robert’s dynamic and indefatigable commitment to artists and the belief that they should lead the development of their own work often led him to identify as ‘the postman’ for a Network that, over the last 35 years, has supported over 4500 artists’ development through workshops, residencies and other process-led activities in more than 80 countries around the world.
As the Triangle Network continues to develop and thrive, we want to take a moment to remember Robert as a guide and an inspiration to many of us who have had the good fortune of knowing him, working with him and benefiting from for the immense contribution he has made to arts on a truly global scale. Our thoughts are also with his wonderful family.
Over the next couple of days we will sending out information across our networks and social media channels to reach as many of Robert’s friends and contacts.
