SAADA Johannesburg Summer Fair @ The Maslow Hotel | 9 & 10 November 2024

The annual SAADA Johannesburg Summer Fair is a much-anticipated event amongst collectors and art afficionados. The fair brings together 9 of South Africa’s top antique, art & design specialists, showcasing their curated collections.

Riaan Bolt Antiques will be showcasing a selection of fine Cape antique furniture, Linnware ceramics, Esias Bosch stoneware, and South African art. Included in this collection will be “Dagga Smoker”, a bronze by renowned South African sculptor, Anton van Wouw (1862 – 1945), and a rare, signed stoneware vessel with decorated with a narrative sequence by Gordon Mbatha, produced at the ELC Art and Craft Centre, Rorke’s Drift.

A superb selection of modern design masterpieces, glass, and international fine art will be presented by Jeremy Stephen Antiques.  Design icons by masters such as Charles and Ray Eames will be combined with glittering (literally!) artworks by Damien Hirst. Italian art glass by Dino Rosin Murano, and Rene Lalique will add flair to the display.

Fine antique silver will be available from The Old Corkscrew.  One of their many highlights include a set of four George III silver entrée dishes marked for London 1814, surmounted with wolf crest handles by William Bennett. Their collection of antique Ladies Legs corkscrew brings a moment of humour to the collection.

Cowboys & Angels Antiques will present an eclectic mix of antiques, design, art, and Asiatica – their assortment of mid-century home furnishings mixes well with their range of quirky collectable objects.

For the lovers of vintage and antique jewellery, an array of fabulous pieces will be available from Bancroft Antiques and Sonia Scholz. A must-see will be a fabulous 18ct gold bracelet detailed with a diamond encrusted domed flower, the centre of which opens to revel a vintage Movado watch in working order, available from Bancroft.

And this year, the SAADA Fair will include a fine display a rare coins and bank notes, and other rare vintage items – each item a story on its own – by Collectors Investments.
