The search is on for Africa’s best young visual artists

South Africa’s cutting-edge young artists looking to fast-track their careers through once-in-a-lifetime international art residencies and unrivalled local exposure are invited to enter the country’s most prestigious art competition, L’Atelier.


Sponsored by Barclays Africa and hosted in conjunction with the South African National Association for the Visual Arts (SANAVA), L’Atelier is renowned for its role in inspiring, motivating and promoting young artists. The competition has become a much-anticipated annual highlight on the calendars of young and emerging artists who thrive on the exposure their work receives from the countrywide exhibitions and the exhibition catalogue, both of which play important roles in helping to further their budding careers.

Online entries for the competition are open from Thursday, 15 January 2015 until Friday, 6 March 2015, and all works being entered must be delivered to the relevant collection points between Monday, 2 and Friday, 6 March 2015.

For the first time in the competition’s 30-year history, artists from Botswana, Zambia, Ghana and Kenya are also invited to enter the 2015 competition…
