September ART
Strauss & Co is pleased to announce September ART, its monthly Timed Online Auction as a precursor to September Auction Week — which will see a series five of curated sales including modern and contemporary art, photography, furniture, design and ceramics (16 – 18 September 2024).
The sale features an extraordinary selection of artworks, spotlighting some of South Africa’s most celebrated artists. From Hodgins’ vibrant and expressive paintings, characterised by their bold color and satirical commentary, alongside expressive works by Philemon Hlungwane and Turiya Magadlela’s evocative cotton, silk and nylon pantyhose tapestries. The sale includes sculpture and ceramics, such as John Leask Nowers’ plates teeming with abstract forms and animals, adding a three-dimensional layer to the offering.
The sale, which closes on Monday 9th September, offers a unique opportunity to acquire exceptional works from both established and up-and-coming artists, each piece selected to provide a dynamic range of styles and mediums.
