Using the power of public art to add life to hidden parts of Cape Town, we invite you to partake in the third annual street art competition. We are looking for the best artists to assist in the transformation of the ‘Langa Quarter’ located at the geographic center of Cape Town.
17 artists chosen by a curatorial panel, will be required to paint a section of the wall outside Langa Stadium. The 134 meter wall is equally divided into 17 pieces . The 1st and 2nd best artworks will be awarded a cash prize and a featured wall to paint. Artist’s are free to apply as a collective or as an individual.
The 17 pre-selected participants will each be given a 2m X 8m sized panel of wall to paint and 10 cans to supplement their own spray paint and 5 days to finish the artwork,
This years competition will be judged by Jace our resident Street Artist, in combination with our usual public vote. Jace, the world renowned French street artist from Réunion Island, will reside in Langa at the Langa Quarter Home-stay Hotel from the 15th to the 20th February. Whilst in residence he will paint a feature piece of work at ikhaya le Langa Hub where he will also conduct 3 daily workshops open to any aspiring street artists.
THE PROCESS
Painting to take place between: Monday 15th February until Friday 19th Feb 2016.
All painting to be completed by Friday 19th February
Judging takes place and the winners announced at a special event on Saturday the 20th February
1st Prize R5000 Cash and a feature wall to paint, 2nd Prize R2000 cash and a feature wall to paint.

Chosen participants will be informed by email before 18:00h on Wednesday 10th February
Nominees will be given the opportunity to pre-order their 10 preferred colours.
