Following a vibrant opening during the Franschhoek Literary Festival weekend, AITY Gallery’s Chapter 3 continues on view through 17 June 2026. The group exhibition brings together a diverse selection of South African artists whose practices reflect on themes of language, narrative, memory, and the written word. Across painting, sculpture, and works on paper, the exhibition considers how text, symbolism, and visual storytelling intersect - revealing how meaning can be carried both through image and through what is left unsaid. Set against the backdrop of one of the country’s most celebrated literary gatherings, Chapter 3 offers an ongoing dialogue between contemporary art and literature. |

Nicole Pieter’s work explores deeply personal themes of identity and nervous system regulation, framed through the lens of lived experience and resilience. A recurring narrative within her practice is their experience with hyperhidrosis, a condition that informs her choice of methods, materials and conceptual grounding. The works presented in Chapter 3 continue her ongoing exploration of colour, gesture and bodily presence, within blank contemplative spaces. Pieter aims to articulate the transition between layered emotional states by employing loose, vivid pigments and tactile imprints sparsely upon the surface of her artworks.
